Monte Carlo (and friends) record release party!!

Join us to celebrate the release of 'Monte Carlo' the self-titled album by Monte Carlo, aka Matthew Collins, aka Grunder, which is being released on 10th July 2025 on In Suspended Animation Records.

It'll be the first chance to listen to the record and there'll some special performances from some familiar faces, full line-up to be announced.

Monte Carlo was the solo project of Matthew Collins aka Grunder. Originally from Chelmsford he subsequently moved to Brighton where, between 2002 & 2004, was a member of the group Fujiya & Miyagi. He played the Farfisa, melodica, scratched & developed an idiosyncratic vocal style. He can be heard on their 2006 album ‘Transparent things’.

He also released music under the moniker Ipambelf & was a member of the then Brighton based group Zex. Following his relocation to London he developed another musical persona, the gold jacketed one man band that was Monte Carlo. This solo project began to bare fruits in 2014, encapsulating his love of synth pop, Acid house & Electronica. Armed with his MPC60, Space Echo & SH101, Matthew created songs that were emotionally honest, musically compact & singular. Further projects, such as Smut, followed.

In the summer of 2023 he was diagnosed with cancer. On 30th January 2024 he passed away. This posthumously released record was created from the mixes & files he left behind.

In the words of the man himself: 'it'll be a real good time'.
